Leather cycling gloves are coming back into vogue for style. What should keep them back is comfort. The Giro LX Gloves demonstrate how comfortable leather cycling mitts can be. Giro starts with their Super Fit Engineering for the palm. This is a three-piece palm, with the center just a thin layer of Pittards leather, and the knuckles and heel receiving their own panels. They are cushioned with 3mm of Technogel padding. This design more naturally fits the contours of your hand and reduces the chance of bunching to near zero. The thumb panel gets 3mm Technogel pads as well. Pittards, besides being comfy, also grips better than most synthetic fabrics, and works well when wet. The back is constructed of perforated Pittards leather. Pittards is a sheepskin that is specially tanned to reduce water/perspiration absorption, improve durability, while maintaining a supple feel. Spandex on the finger sides, a nose wipe on the thumb, and a Velcro closure complete the package. Pittards is easy to care for as leather goes, but it still takes a bit more care than synthetics. First off, because of the tanning process, they don鈥檛 get stiff and stinky quickly. You can get several wearings before washing. In that time, you鈥檒l want to air dry them in a place away from sunlight. They鈥檒l stiffen up a little, but once your hand is in them, it will contour again. They can be machine washed, but never machine dried. Handwashing in lukewarm water is ideal. Let them hang dry away from direct sunlight for the best results. The Giro LX Gloves add a classic style that demonstrates comfort is timeless.
